Halloween Giveaway

By October 20, 2016October 27th, 201694 Comments

So this is fun. For those of you whoโ€™ve picked up a copy of my book, a) THANK YOU and b) you mightโ€™ve ogled the Franks-n-Beans recipe which we have been known to scare up for our Halloween launch party (alongside a healthy selection of bourbon, of course). ย In honor of the ritual and the season, longtime partner Applegate, maker of some of the best franks out there, has agreed to partake in a little giveaway contest. Comment below and tell me what youโ€™ve made from the book (or hope to make from the book soon) to be eligible to win enough franks to throw a legit Halloween party and then some. One winner will be chosen and will winย two packs of Applegateโ€™sย all-natural hot dogsย (your choice), a copy of How to Celebrate Everything (if you already own, I will send to a friend), along with some freebie coupons and good old-fashioned Applegate swag. Contest ends on Sunday, October 23, 8:00 PM ET. Good luck! Update: The winner has been notified. Thanks to everyone for playing.

Iโ€™m still waiting for the book, but based on my experience with your other recipes, I bet they will all be wonderful. We love chickpeas and I see several people have mentioned a crispy chickpea with yogurt sauce recipe. That sounds great!

I am finally reading my book! It arrived before my 16 day road trip, traveled with me all the way, but I barely read it. I know I will want to try many of the recipes!

We loved the crispy chickpeas, and Iโ€™ve made the sleepover pancakes twice this week. I might have to make more chickpeas tomorrow since thereโ€™s leftover sauce . . .

I love your new book and have read it cover to cover! The most powerful sentence for me is on page 170-171. Like you, I think about this sentence a lot as we navigate these our crazy, busy days of soccer, cross country and band (school and homework too)โ€ฆThe sentence is a quote from your mother! โ€œYou just make sure that when those girls walk in that door every day they never doubt that home is the most comforting place for them to beโ€. Wow! That sentence drives every โ€œWednesday cakeโ€, every Sunday dinner and dessert, every โ€œstreamers on your door for holidays and birthdaysโ€ and all other rituals that reinforce the words โ€œhome and familyโ€ to our children.. Comfort is a great โ€œgiftโ€ to give our families. Iโ€™m looking forward to trying the mud cake! Sounds easy and delicious. Thanks!

  • Avatar Kim says:

The Apple Fritters are my new favorite weekend breakfast, and Iโ€™m baking Snickerdoodles for dessert tonight. Yum!

  • Avatar Anu Kadam says:

  • Avatar ABT says:

I love your bookโ€“It is a small peek into your holiday rituals which reminds me to make sure to cultivate my own. I loved the ham recipe as well as the Thanksgiving menu which I plan to make.

  • Avatar Leslie says:

So far Iโ€™ve made the cider braised meatballs, Abbyโ€™s gnocchi with homemade pesto (phenomenal!) and Rosaโ€™s Mud Cake topped with strawberry frosting for my daughterโ€™s 2nd birthday. And weโ€™re just getting started!

  • Avatar Lindsey Trego says:

Iโ€™m all about everything fall lately, /0 I want to make the brown butter apple pie!

  • Avatar anita says:

Love your book. I plan to make the challah bread as well as the ham sliders.

  • Avatar Meredith says:

Chicken chorizo chili! Although the franks and beans would be a close second! And parmesan mashed potatoes sound pretty interesting too!

  • Avatar Jennifer says:

I would love to try most everything in the book but the ritual we really need to work on is Thanksgiving so I love that section in particular! For whatever reason, as much as I love holidays, thinking about hosting Thanksgiving makes me want to plan a long run or bike ride instead! Thanks for the inspiration to celebrate all things โ€” love the idea of the โ€œWednesday cakeโ€ too!

  • Avatar Angela says:

Iโ€™m hopeful for trying the gnocchi this weekend with my middle schooler!
Looks like a great time together activity

  • Avatar Sarah says:

Iโ€™m planning on making the chorizo chili in my slow cooker on Halloween.

  • Avatar emma says:
