Halloween Giveaway

By October 20, 2016October 27th, 201694 Comments

So this is fun. For those of you whoโ€™ve picked up a copy of my book, a) THANK YOU and b) you mightโ€™ve ogled the Franks-n-Beans recipe which we have been known to scare up for our Halloween launch party (alongside a healthy selection of bourbon, of course). ย In honor of the ritual and the season, longtime partner Applegate, maker of some of the best franks out there, has agreed to partake in a little giveaway contest. Comment below and tell me what youโ€™ve made from the book (or hope to make from the book soon) to be eligible to win enough franks to throw a legit Halloween party and then some. One winner will be chosen and will winย two packs of Applegateโ€™sย all-natural hot dogsย (your choice), a copy of How to Celebrate Everything (if you already own, I will send to a friend), along with some freebie coupons and good old-fashioned Applegate swag. Contest ends on Sunday, October 23, 8:00 PM ET. Good luck! Update: The winner has been notified. Thanks to everyone for playing.

Just seeing this post makes me crave some frank n beans- might have to jump on that soon!

  • Avatar Connor says:

Franks and Beans, obviously! Just waiting for it to get chilly enough in South Louisiana ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Avatar Julie Ryan says:

I would make pigs in the blanket with different dipping sauces for the kids.

  • Avatar Annie says:

Iโ€™d love to try the crowd-pleaser summer slaw to see how it compares to the one I always make!

  • Leah says:

We went apple picking last weekend and promptly made the brown butter apple pie. So good!

  • Avatar Elizabeth says:

If I can pull off your crsipy cheakpeas with yogurt sauce and naanโ€ฆTHAT will be a reason to celebrate!

    Iโ€™m eyeing the Snickerdoodle recipe!

We (my 12 year old daughter and I) are loving Celebrate Everything. Last week she made Phoebeโ€™s gnocchi for Sunday dinner and really wowed our company. I made the berry pie for dessert and it was so good and gone. We almost never finish a pie or cake in our house, but this one didnโ€™t last long. I grilled up some Picnic chicken this week and although Thursday is leftover night, there wonโ€™t be any chicken in the mix. My daughter also made a batch of snicker doodles to take to a football party and we both agreed that the sea salt takes this cookie up a notch. This is my favorite cookbook right now. Iโ€™m loving the recipes and the family stories.

Today it finally seems like fall here in Kansas Cityโ€“ 50ยฐ, drizzly, beautiful leaves! The franks and beans would be awesome, along with a fire pit and sโ€™mores of course!

  • Avatar Melissa Price says:

The franks and beans look amazing! Would definitely give those a try!

  • Avatar Sarah says:

I would love to try the frank-and beans recipe. Especially with Applegate dogs, yum! My little one is still only 1 year old so there wonโ€™t be much to โ€œlaunchโ€ this year as trick-or-treating will probably lose its charm after 15 minutes or so, but I would love to make a big pot of this to munch on as we hand out candy!

  • Avatar Kay says:

I would love to make the triple berry pie if I can figure out a way to make it gluten free.

  • Avatar Mary says:

Yay for Halloween launch parties! We always have โ€œWitchesโ€™ Brew Stewโ€ for dinner (spinach soup) as a little healthy nutrition before gorging on candy, but I think pigs โ€˜n blankets might be a good way to round out the green soup.. I really want to get my act together and surprise my family with a โ€œYay! Itโ€™s Wednesday!โ€ cake soon, inspired by your bookโ€ฆ My 7th grader is struggling with Spanish and has a ton of school work this year. He loves all food and would be encouraged by a surprise after-school piece of cake! We celebrate half-birthdays in our family and are getting ready to make chocolate chip cookie dough truffles this weekend for my 9.5-year-oldโ€ฆ ๐Ÿ™‚ Thanks for the encouragement to celebrate everything!!!

  • Avatar Stacie fontinell says:

chick peas with yogurt sauce and naanโ€ฆyum!

  • Avatar Alisa Smirnova says:

I assembled your donut cake for my boyfriendโ€™s birthday using his favorite donuts that are sold by our old apartment. He was surprised, and a new ritual was born. Also made Ratatouille, not from your book, but the reference made me watch the movie and make their recipe! Thanks for a great third book, Jenny. I read it in two days.

  • Avatar Amie says:

I hope to make the homemade gnocchi with basil and cheese. I love gnocchi but have never dared to make it myself!

  • Avatar LaurenB says:

this book is on my holiday wishlistโ€ฆI canโ€™t wait to dive into it and start cooking!

  • Avatar Reynaul says:

The snickerdoodles! My 5 year old loves a cookie in his lunch for a treat so these would be perfect! Plus he loves the Applegate hotdogs too so that would be a bonus! ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Avatar Peggy says:

Those Franks n Beans look great!!
I love your first 2 books, and am so looking forward to getting time to read your latest =)

  • Avatar megan says:

i havenโ€™t cooked anything from the book, but itโ€™s at the very top of my queue at the library ๐Ÿ™‚ and i am looking forward to making fun meals for my family of 4 (we have two girls: age 2 and 6). i usually take cookbooks out of the library, try them out for awhile and then decide to buyโ€ฆ.itโ€™s a nice way to test drive books to make sure i will use them! thanks for all you do Jenny โ€“ I truly love your simple, meaningful recipes.

  • Avatar Christian says:

Rosas mud cake! With peanut butter frosting from smitten kitchen blog
    Yum!
Franks and beanns would be a great Halloween dish

  • Avatar Awads says:

I love those Applegate hotdogs b/c i never feel guilty when i go back for seconds! Low-cal and healthier than anything else in the deli section.

I canโ€™t tell you how many times Iโ€™ve made the Mud Cake (and now iโ€™m making two for the schoolโ€™s fall festival cakewalk, complete with the dumdum perimeter!). Iโ€™ve also made the apple fritters and chickpea pizza.

  • Avatar Bea says:

I am looking forward to making the picnic chicken, the gnocchi and the sour cream chocolate chip nut loaf. I am also planning to make the entire Christmas dinner on Christmas Eve for my family. What a relief it is to finally have found the perfect menu for December 24th. In the past few years, we went out to our favorite restaurant and it was loud and crowded with awful service and cold food. I canโ€™t wait to be HOME this year. Thanks Jenny! Happy Halloween!

  • Avatar Heidi says:

I made the one pan lemon chicken with asparagus and chives (twice!!). So good. Only problem is there is a misprint in the book and it is listed on the wrong page (283, not 263 as listed).

  • Avatar Danielle Deskins says:

We are big Applegate fans and I know my kids would love Franks โ€˜n Beans! I would love to try your Challah bread. Bread is always something that defeats me, but I love to keep trying! Thanks for the giveaway and best of luck on your book sales!
