By October 17, 201312 Comments

Please head over to my favorite style blog, Cup of Jo, for todayโ€™s post on Fend-for-Yourself Nightย (also known as F@#k Family Dinner.) Pictured above: My Egg and Cheese Tortilla; Below: Andyโ€™s Cacio e Pepe.

While youโ€™re there, check out the rest of Joannaโ€™s gorgeous food coverage including, but most definitely not limited to:ย banana-chocolate chip muffins, olive oil cake, coconut hot chocolate, and veggie burgers. ย (#One of these things is not like the others.)

At my house, we call it โ€œEvery Man for Himselfโ€ Night! Or, EMFH!! It is on Thursdays, and the point is to eat up all the leftovers from the weekโ€™s meals and not cook anything to be leftover going in to Fri/Sat when we usually eat out or get takeout.

We call it foraging night. Every man/woman/child to themselves.

This is exactly what Friday night dinners were called growing up in my house.

I have to comment again after reading the post over at A Cup of Jo. So funny and both recipes sound delicious. I never tire of your letters to each other. Another awesome post!

LOL! I eat dinner alone more often than Iโ€™d like to so I loved reading this article. Lately my eat alone dinner default has been chickpeas mixed with red onions, cilantro, spinach, cumin, and olive oil. Very fast & easy!

We have a version where I call it have whatever you want and I wind up being a short order cook for my husband and four kids. Even though it is a lot of work for me, the kids love it, they usually cannot believe their good fortune that they are able to have whatever they want.

What? Someone else has Fend For Yourself Night? It goes on the menu board every week, a big fat FFY. Everyone knows what it means, and everyone loves it!
